This file infector is Trend Micro?s detection for files that were incorrectly infected by the PE_VIRUT.A virus. Most of the infected files still contains the main virus code. However, the instructions that jump to the main virus code are missing. This is due to some bugs in the infection process of PE_VIRUT.A. Files detected as PE_VIRUT.DAM cannot infect other files, are already corrupted and cannot be repaired. They must be replaced with clean backup copies.
